Recreational Soccer Info

Litchfield Youth Soccer categorizes Recreational Soccer into the following subdivisions:

Cougar Cubs

  • Ages 3 (pre-school), Co-ed.
  • 45 minutes to 1 hour a week of fun soccer play.
  • Focus is on an introduction to the game of soccer, social interaction and fun.
  • All events are on Saturdays (Scheduled for 1 hour) at GMS.
  • All players are equally involved. Parent interaction is encouraged.
  • Required equipment is: size 3 soccer ball, shin guards, and athletic wear.
  • Optional equipment is: water bottle and soccer cleats.

Instructional Recreational League

  • Ages 4 and 5 (pre-school and kindergarten), Co-ed.
  • Kids play small 4v4 games.
  • First half-hour is instruction, second half-hour is games.
  • Focus is on good sportsmanship, social interaction and fun.
  • All practices/games are on Saturdays (1 hour total) at GMS.
  • All players play all positions (no goalies) and play equal time.
  • Required equipment is: size 3 soccer ball, shin guards, and athletic wear.
  • Optional equipment is: water bottle and soccer cleats.

4v4 Recreational League

  • Ages 6 and 7 (first and second grade), Co-ed.
  • Kids play 4v4 soccer games.
  • Each team has a 1 hour practice during the week.
  • Focus is on good sportsmanship, social interaction and fun.
  • All games are on Saturdays (1 hour) at GMS.
  • All players play all positions (no goalies) and play equal time.
  • Required equipment is: size 3 soccer ball, shin guards, and athletic wear.
  • Optional equipment is: water bottle and soccer cleats.

7v7 Recreational League

  • Ages 8 – 11 (third through sixth grade), Co-ed.
  • Kids play 7v7 soccer games.
  • Each team has a 1 hour practice during the week.
  • Focus is on good sportsmanship, social interaction and fun.
  • Practices are at Griffin Elementary School.
  • Games are on Saturdays (1 hour) at Griffin Elementary School.
  • All players play all positions (except goalie . . . volunteers only) and play equal time.
  • Required equipment is: size 4 soccer ball, shin guards, and athletic wear.
  • Recommended equipment is: water bottle and soccer cleats.
